Diamond Pushups

Diamond pushups, also known as triangle pushups or narrow pushups, are a variation of the traditional pushup exercise that primarily targets the triceps muscles while also engaging the chest, shoulders, and core. The name "diamond" pushup comes from the hand positioning during the exercise, where you place your hands close together to form a diamond shape with your thumbs and index fingers.

Here's how to perform diamond pushups:

  1. Start in a high plank position with your hands directly under your shoulders and your body forming a straight line from your head to your heels.

  2. Bring your hands together so that your thumbs and index fingers touch, forming a diamond shape on the floor.

  3. Lower your body down towards the floor by bending your elbows. Keep your elbows close to your body throughout the movement.

  4. Go down until your chest almost touches the diamond shape formed by your hands.

  5. Push through your palms and extend your elbows to return to the starting position.

  6. Repeat for the desired number of reps.

Tips for doing diamond pushups:

  1. Keep your body in a straight line throughout the exercise. Avoid arching your back or sagging your hips.

  2. Focus on engaging your triceps as you push yourself up.

  3. If you find diamond pushups too challenging initially, you can modify the exercise by performing them on your knees instead of your toes. This will reduce the resistance and make it easier to perform the movement.

  4. As with any exercise, maintain proper breathing throughout the motion - inhale as you lower your body and exhale as you push up.

Remember to warm up before attempting any pushup variation and listen to your body. If you experience any discomfort or pain, stop the exercise and consult a fitness professional or healthcare provider. Gradually increase the number of reps and sets as you become more comfortable with the movement.
